Suffering Somnambulists (A Poetic Couple)
50Elysium?
Poem 1
Cafe’ La Patisserie Daix
Were the entire world half so sweet as these confections that
Surround me
I might, (I fear I might),
Succumb
To sanguine, syrupy self-indulgence.
In corpulence of flesh, not
Soul,
I’d lead my suffering-starved
Existence,
And perish unscarred, my crypt bejeweled,
Then rise to new life more the fool.
Poem 2
Redoubtable Syncope
We trudge this path of daily drudgery,
Weary, somnambulists, seeking true
Tranquility; almost overcome by the
Temperate climes we sometimes find,
Stumbling into the heady intoxication of their
Overwhelming, insidious liquor, where
Soporific slumber seems so sweet.
So then, shall we lay our heads to rest,
And there fall faint, where dreams of
Indolent ataraxia our souls in
Drowsy chains may keep?
Never, else then with death we sleep!

Beautiful! Love the image! Like the titles and your choice of words is a breath of fresh air:)
wow! I almost got lost in the meandering words. Deep and almost scary but ultimately a satisfying read. coolness! thanks for sharing.
(had to get the thersaurus for this one)

If truth be told, this is the reason I joined your fan club. I have a strange affinity for the word 'subnambulist', (can't explain it - just trust me on that one), then of course, the poem was stellar! Congratulations on being able to conjure such work.
